Thermography Breast Scan
HE@T offers state of the art breast thermography on a physician and self-referral basis. All thermography screenings are performed by technicians certified by the American College of Clinical Thermology. Thermography breast screenings can detect subtle changes in the breasts 5-10 years before other medical imaging tools.
Thermography utilizes highly sensitive infrared cameras that can display abnormal cellular and vascular patterns in breast tissue. Breast thermography is a test of physiology or function rather than structure. Meaning, thermography gives a different insight into cellular and vascular changes before a structure has formed or surrounding a current structure that may be too small to detect through other anatomical methods.
Who Can Benefit From Breast Thermography Screening?
According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 women will endure a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. All women can benefit from breast thermography as it gives a baseline for your breast health without any adverse effects. However, it is especially appropriate for women who are not yet eligible for a mammogram and women under the age of 50 whose denser breast tissue makes it more difficult for mammography to be effective. Also for women of all ages who do not want exposure to radiation, are fibrocystic, have had a mastectomy, have a family history of breast disease, of are unable to undergo routine mammography.
Breast thermography can provide a clinical marker for your breast health. Breast thermography screenings are also available for men who have concerns of male breast cancer.
Notice: Thermography is not a stand alone test and does not replace other diagnostic testing. All thermography reports are meant to identify thermal emissions that suggest potential risk markers only and do not in any way suggest diagnosis and/or treatment. Studies show that the earliest detection is realized when multiple tests are used together.
